Maria - since 1916, this name has stood for one of Rosenthal's most popular and successful porcelain services. For generations, it's been the tableware for weddings and other festive occasions: elegant and timeless. The special charm of this design lies above all in the neoclassical shape and the balance between classic and romantic elements - such as the fine pomegranate relief. A silver tea service from 1815 served as the model for Maria. The company founder, Philipp Rosenthal, acquired it on a trip to England. Maria is named after Philipp Rosenthal's wife. The classic, polyhedral base is framed by a fine, curved pomegranate relief that takes up the design elements from the Biedermeier period. These include the right-angled handles and the square surfaces that create a play of light and shadow, giving this shape its characteristic look. As early as the 1920s and 1930s, Maria was a very comprehensive service with around 170 different items. Today, Maria is still the most comprehensive tableware series from the Rosenthal brand. Rosenthal products impress with their design, functionality, quality and constant innovation. For over 140 years, Rosenthal has been producing porcelain with great craftsmanship.
