At Home with Scott Lipinski
After 20 years of city life in Berlin, fashion professional Scott and his husband felt drawn to the countryside. On a plot with mature trees, they have created their very own retreat – a place for slowing down, but also for community and creativity.

“With this house, we wanted to create a place of joy, liveliness, colour and contentment – something that would also be reflected in our lives, which now take place mostly here.”

Light wood, floor-to-ceiling windows and an abundance of natural light form the basis of the house. Recurring accents in red and blue bring the rooms to life and reflect the open, creative spirit of Scott and his husband.

‘An open concept was particularly important to us in the redesign. There is no vestibule or hallway – you just step inside and are immediately part of our home.’

The home brings together two sides: quiet corners for cocooning and relaxation – such as the Lennon couch – alongside more active areas that open onto the garden. Here, Scott and his husband cook with friends, enjoy music and create moments full of joie de vivre.

‘My style of living is a sign, or rather a snapshot, of how we feel, how we want to present ourselves […] an expression of our creativity.’

One highlight of the house is the guest WC: surprising, unconventional – almost like a small club. Neon lighting and music that switches on automatically when you enter create a distinctive atmosphere.

Sustainability and individuality are especially important to Scott when it comes to interior design. Many pieces of furniture are custom-made – such as the kitchen – and have been carefully chosen. He draws inspiration from impressions, moods and magazines to design rooms that express both personality and creativity.

‘My husband and I feel that this is the first thing we have truly created together […] the place we have created where we want to grow old.’
