Maria - since 1916, this name has stood for one of Rosenthal's most popular and successful porcelain services. For generations, it has been the porcelain for weddings and other festive occasions: stylish and timeless. The elegant charm of this shape is particularly evident in the classic design and the balance of classic and romantic design elements such as the delicate pomegranate relief. A silver tea service from around 1815 served as the model for Maria. The company's founder, Philipp Rosenthal sen., acquired it on a trip to England. Maria was named after Philipp Rosenthal's wife. The classic, multi-faceted base is framed by a delicate, finely curved pomegranate relief that takes up design elements from the Biedermeier period. It's the right-angled handles and the framed, angular surfaces with their interplay of light and shadow that give this shape its unmistakable character. As early as the 1920s and 1930s, Maria was a well-developed service with around 170 different items. Today, Maria is still Rosenthal's most extensive tableware. In 2014, the classic Maria service was given a romantic floral design by designer Regula Stüdli. This can be combined wonderfully with Maria Weiss and impresses with very contemporary ideas. Rosenthal products impress with their design, functionality, quality and innovative strength. For more than 140 years, Rosenthal has been producing porcelain of the highest quality with exceptional craftsmanship.
